kōst Bar & Grill | Elevated Coastal Dining on Oracle Boulevard
If you’re a believer that Instagram eats first, you’ve come to the right place. A coastal inspired bar and grill that plates up food you’ll feel compelled to photograph before devouring, kōst is an elevated dining experience that brings together all the elements that make a meal memorable— and guarantees to keep you coming back time and time again.
For starters, the modern bar and grill occupies premium real estate on Oracle Boulevard, taking over three previous tenancies to create one sprawling venue and outdoor pavilion, encompassing an impressive 120-seat restaurant, 14-seat private dining room, and 20 additional seats for cocktail-style dining.
Owner and hospitality honcho David Gilpin, who is also responsible for beloved dining establishments Mozza Mozza, Crafty’s, and Kirra Beach House, says the inspiration for kōst was to create a space that transitioned from day to night with ease.
“The dining experience will make you feel like you are in a coastal resort,” he says. “Between the relaxed and warm service, the stunning interiors, a food menu that lets the produce and proteins be the heroes, and a resort-driven cocktail menu, kōst makes dining out a surprising and delightful experience.”
With a kitchen designed around a two-metre Mibrasa charcoal grill, it’s safe to assume dishes that champion woodfired smoked flavours feature heavily on the seasonal menu (particularly across protein), alongside a generous offering of seafood and fresh produce plates, making it the perfect trio.
From the Hamachi kingfish with citrus dressing to the steak tartare plated up Parisian-style (yolk on top with salt and vinegar crisps), stracciatella with smoked grapes and grilled sourdough, octopus with nduja and almond dressing, and their selection of woodfired steaks, kōst brings Mediterranean flavours to Oracle Boulevard with a sophisticated yet relaxed ambience.
